Palpitations~Anxiety Attacks

My Mom suffers from severe panic attacks. She sometimes, when she is clam experiences palpitations at the bottom of her thought. Like an irregular heart beat. She has been checked by the doctor and her heart beat is fine. Is there anything I can do, or a cure to this? I hate seeing my mom like this.

Panic attacks are associated with a number of symptoms that can be disrupting - such as shortness of breath, palpitations, and a sense of impending doom. However, most of the treatment is aimed towards treating the underlying problem (the anxiety) rather than the symptoms. There are a number of anxiolytic medications that are used (SSRIs, benzodiazepines, etc) but should be prescribed by a licensed physician, and usually only after a thorough physical and history.
