Panic attacks and treadmill stress tests

Panic attacks and treadmill stress tests

I have suffered from panic attacks for over 20 years.  I am 55 years old.  I recently went in for my routine physical and had a panic attack during the treadmill stress test.  The Cardiologist said I had a "classic" false/positive.  I have been a runner for over 20 years and am in very fit.  During the test, the only thing I felt was the panic attack.....upping my HR.  No pain, PVC's, etc.

Can a panic attack cause a false/positive stress test?  Has anyone experienced this?

Panic can cause a lot of things.  If your doctor wasn't concerned, I would not be concerned, particularly if you felt otherwise good.
