Piercing with bicuspid aortic valve

Piercing with bicuspid aortic valve

I am 16 years of age I live a healthy life and have had no prior problems with my heart condition.I was diagnosed with my bicuspid aortic valve at the age of 8. I attend a dentist every 2 or so years, and recently when we went this year my doctor no longer instructed me to take antibiotics before the procedure as requirement for this dosage was recently changed. I go to my doctors office once every 3 years to have it checked on, my latest visit happened to be this year, while I was there I asked my doctor how she felt about if I were to get a piercing or tatoo, she told me it was my decision, and gave me background knowledge that a disease called "Endocranitis"(not sure on the spelling)" was possible and bacteria could line the walls of my heart. She ended up saying that it was my decision for this, and warned me about it. My first question would be that, what would be the percentage of such a problem proceeding. The second would be, arethere any steps that I should take if I do decide to get something pierced?
Now keep in mind that they are just minor piercings, two on the lower lip and possibly one in the nose. I am aware that I personally do need to take some precautions on my end and I do plan on getting it professionally done.

I would appreciate any help on this matter, also, my mother makes a point that im not sure about, but if/when I get something pierced I would have an open wound which would be a very welcome invitation to any sort of bacteria that wants to come into my body. Now the next thing she says which I highly doubt, but she warned me that if I did get anything pierced I would be stuck having to take antibiotics every day of my life to prevent such infections.

i have been wondering the exact same thing!! i want to get a stud in my nose and was wondering how big of a risk it is to get done. pretty much you can get it done and you just have to keep it extremely clean and my mom said i have to premedicate with amoxocillion which is what i am still taking before dentist appointment..however, my cardiologist is against it because there are higher risks of it getting infected and the infection going after the weaker organ in the body, which in our case is unfortunately our heart..but my doctor told me not to get my naval pierced either and i did without telling them and I'm fine
