Please help with EKG question

Hi. I had an EKG but need some help translating it. The findings say Left atrial enlargement. My dr mentioned nothing about it. What the heck! I'm petrified I have an enlarged heart or heart failure. She has scheduled a echo and stress as I have been seeing her fofoyears for tachycardia. Someone help me figure out what that means on my EKG. Thanks.

Well, left atrial enlargement can be related to overweight and tachycardia, among other things, and can signify that the heart is sort of overworked and is trying to compensate.

But none of us on this board is a medical professional.  In this case, everything depends on your doctor's familiarity with *you* as a patient.  Cardiology is really, really specialized, and if you are worried, good heavens, call your doctor back and tell him/her that you are worried, and ask for an explanation!

I did and she said atrial enlargement is "non specific" and for me not to worry..
Then believe her!  Doctors do not have many good reasons to deceive you or send you away when something is wrong.  After all, they get paid to treat you for ailments.
