Possible PFO?

Possible PFO?

I am 34 years old and am in relatively good overall health.  In April 2008, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure.  It was 150/105.  It was totally shock since I have never had any issue with it before.  I was put on Diovan (80mg).  The dr rechecked me every 4-6 weeks and my bp seems controlled at that point.  I continued to take the Diovan and in September started having what feel like tension headaches.  They are not so bad that they keep me from going on about my day, but still very aware of the pressure in my head.  I went back to the dr. and he changed my Diovan to add the HCT.  After about a week my head felt a lot better.  Two weeks ago, the headaches returned and after running lots of blood tests the dr. said they were simply caused by tension.  I just saw a program on tv about PFO.  I had an EKG back in September and it was normal.  Would that particular test show a possibility of PFO?  I am just wondering if I should see a cardiologist.
Thank you for any information you can give me.
