Post By Pass Surgery Exercise/Sport activities

I am 54 years of age. I had a triple bypass surgery done some 18 months back. I suffer from a hereditary high Cholesterol problem and there is heart desease in my Family.
I didn't think I'd be fit enough to start running again. I thought this mainly because of having had the surgery and also because the Cholesterol Medication impeeded my breathing some what also. Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor> You name them I had them and non of them I can tolerate. They all make me feel quiet un well. I got sick and tired of feeling like a Zombie because of the Medication. I seem ok with my Atacand blood pressure Medication. I decided I didn't want to feel unwell no more and have a better quality of life and to feel well. I turned to an experienced naturepath who is also certified as a professional. She put me on a few natural alternatives and diet. I also stepped up my excercise regime. I started to think if I can push myself more to perhaps enter a Fun Run and if I might be able to reach a similar time I did well before my bypass surgery. My question is this. Is there a risk in me pushing myself more? How far can I push myself? I guess it may sound a little like; How long is a piece of String? As is" I am listening to my Body and I am improving on my ability in gradualy performing better. Can I push myself like a Person who has not had a Bypass or is there a caution limit to this?

How far you can push yourself is up to how you feel. If you have a limit, you will soon
know because you will feel chest or throat discomforts, enough to make you slow down.
After my cabgx3, before it failed due to bad surgery, I pushed myself really hard too,
reaching a pulse of 188 and it felt really good. Only you know your limit and it's good to
find out what it is. If you imagine your heart to be a car engine with a blocked fuel line. You have simply had other fuel lines added to keep the engine running. If the heart tissue is healthy, you should have no limits.
