Post Valve Surgery

I will be having surgery soon for the replacement of my mitral and aortic valves.  Is it true that after the surgery wires will remain coming out of my chest for the possibility of jump starting my heart if need be?  If so, what happens to these wires later on?  This may sound like a crazy question, but I am very concerned about walking around with wires still coming out of me.

Don't worry - it's not like Dr. Frakenstein's creature.  Oftentimes very small pacemaker wires will be left in place after the surgery in case your heart's pacemaker stops working.  AFter a couple days these wires are removed.  You won't even notice they are there and removing them is painless.
