Postural Hypotension with Vasovagal Syncope

I am 18 year old female, use to be very active in softball..I'm 5'4 and I wiegh 138. I was diagnosed with Postural Hypotension and Vasovagal syncope back in June of 2004. I'm on Atenolol and I was wondering are the two different and could this really be something else? I cant stand for long period of time, even while moving, I get very tired really easy and even whe nIm sitting my blood pressure is still at 75/55...I also have chronic tension migraines...could this be a by-product from the hypotension?

Moonbunny316, If this is the norm for you, it does not sound as though they have your hypotension very well controled. Until they came upon a drug that worked for me, only laying down gave me relief and it did not come up much when sitting.  There are other beta blockers that they can try and my endocrinologist put me on proamitine briefly (it made my BP too high when I was sitting so had to give up on that quickly); however, your sitting BP may be low enough for it.  And right after not being able to stand up, the headache is the worst part of it and mine, at least is directly related to my BP.  It is like pressure in the back of my head and then it is generalized and stays until I lay down.  Ask your doctor if there is something he can give your for you headaches or if he would recommend over the counter anti inflamatories.   I hope they can find something to help you better.  Take care.
