Potassium-Sparing Blood Pressure Meds

JKJ
My doc (VA doc) just put me on spironolactone for my hbp (25mg x1) because my other med was causing my potassium levels to go dangerously low.  Problem is, the new med caused me to swell badly and for some reason my blood pressure was low.  So, to fix the swelling problem, the VA doc (they aren't the smartest)....doubled the med!!!!  Now I have low blood pressure and am dizzy all the time, but doc is happy that the swelling is better and my potassium is normal.

Does anyone know of any other "potassium-sparing" hbp meds out there?  My VA doc doesn't seem to know of any.  It's scary at the VA.  They said I just have to put up with the dizziness.  I'm also on nitro for chest pain, which when I have to take it....well, my blood pressure really dumps (and I've hit the floor a couple of times).  The VA's answer?  They told me to just be sure I'm lying down when I take my nitro.  Wow.  I'll make sure from now on I only get chest pain when I'm at home, lying down.....LMAO.

If anyone has any ideas on other meds that I could suggest to my not-so-smart doc, I'd really appreciate it.  Many thanks!!!

Essie1872,
Hi, thanks for your reply, I was on that med before the one I'm one now and it's the one that bottomed out my potassium.  I was on that for almost 2 years.
I hope that it works for you...I really liked that med for blood pressure control and keeping my swelling down; but even taking all those potassium supplements and my potassium level still fell at times down into the mid 2 range.

I have been on a potassium-sparing medication called hydrochlorothiazide/triamterine.  that is the only one I have knowledge of.  This is suppose to be the whole package, diuretic and blood pressure medication.

I'm not taking a "potassium sparing" med but take Lasix (water pill) for high BP and therefore have to take a prescription Potassium pill along with it. BTW, I forgot to mention this "Potassium Pill" the other day when momto3 asked what type of meds we are taking and what the side effects etc.
