Precordial Catch Syndrome

Posted By Renee on January 19, 1999 at 09:29:22:

I took my son (9 years) to a pediatric cardialogist because he had been
experiencing sharp chest pains since he was about 7.  At first I thought
little of it, but as time went on, he complained more and more and he
seemed afraid of the "episodes."  The doctor diagnosed Precordial Catch
Syndrome.  He said it was very common in children and that he would
outgrow it.  I've never heard of this.  What causes it?  Is it really that
common?  How may children have it?  When will he probably outgrow it?
Thank you for your time.
