Pregnancy and pvc

Posted By Tina on October 29, 1998 at 14:06:54:

Hello
I am 10 weeks pregnant and have been having frequent heart palpitations for about 1 1/2 months. On Monday I saw my physician about it. He did an ekg which showed premature ventricular contraction. My family has a history of mitral valve prolapse. My docter listened to my heart for a long time with me lying down, sitting, and standing up. He said he did not hear a murmur or a mid-systolic click. I am wondering whether pregnancy can induce the pvc. I had blood drawn to check my electrolytes but I have not received the results yet. Also my heart rate has been around 92 consistently (even when I am not having the pvc's). What causes pvc (other than low sodium, potassium, or magnesium), are they dangerous to me or my baby, and could they be caused by the pregnancy itself?
Many thanks in advance,
Tina
