Pregnancy with a Mitral Valve

by MercedesRosa, Apr 19, 2007 12:00AM
Hello,
I am 18 years old and when I was 8months old I had heart surgery and 2 more times. I now have a mitral valve and take Warfarin and some other medications to control my heart palpatations and my depression. I am thinking of having a baby but, I am very afraid of still birth, or dying at child birth. I need to know if it is a possibility for me to still have a child. Please any advice will do. Thank you so much.

Mercedes,

You will find great information about pregnancy and mechanical/tissue valves at www.valvereplacement.com.  There are a few people over there who have gone through pregnancies after valve surgery.
