Primary Pulmonary Hypertension and Ritalin

by Andrea Newton, Dec 06, 1999 12:00AM
I have been reading up on Primary Pulmonary Hypertension and have found in the literature that drugs with anorexic components such as diet pills may bring on PPH. My question is, since Ritalin may cause anorexia in some patients do these patients run the risk of developing PPH?

Thanks.

As far as we know, the risk of developing PPH, seen with diet pills, is not seen with Ritalin. The actual risk with diet pills is pretty small.

My chat-friend in America is dying of Primary Pulmonary Hypertension, and the doctors in America say there is no hope for her. I am desperatly trying to find a different opinion. She is only 14. Would she be better off visiting a doctor in a different country?
Thanks.
