Problem with racing heart at the dentist

At the dentist today my heart began to race while he was giving me a Novacaine shot.  He told me this was from the epinephrine in the shot.  My heart raced for several minutes afterwards and so he injected it more slowly and said I may be sensitive to it.  I am wondering if this is an indication of an underlying problem of some sort and if I should mention it to my doctor.

Next time you need a dental anesthetic, request one without the epinepherine.  It's the epi that tends to stir up the tachycardia.  The anesthetic that does not contain epi doesn't last quite as long, so you may need additional injections, but it should be better for the tachy.  I believe it takes a little longer to take effect also.  But, it's worth the wait : )
