Propanolol and eerie sensations

by Modeno, Jan 27, 2007 12:00AM
I am 83 years old and in 1983 I had two heart attacks,(infarctus) the doctor then, gave me a prescription for Propanolol 20mg 4 times a day and took those for 22 years and evrything was fine. Then one day without telling me the doctor changed the dosage to 40mg 4 times a day. after a while I started having these eerie sensations, which start in the pit of my stomach and rush to my head which I think it's going to bust! What I would like to know is; could the propanolol be responsible for these sensations? Before I talk to my doctor I would like a second opinion.

Thank you very much.

Hello,

There are too many causes for sensations like that including medications.  In someone your age that usually does not have problems, I would take it seriously.  I would probably decrease your medications and would also investigate other causes.  Call your doctor and talk to them about it today.

Thanks for posting.
