Pulmonary Edema, Congestive Heart Failure

by santhanam, Nov 24, 2007 09:45PM
I am 69 years old male came to the US for a short visit.  For days backI had to be rushed to the hospital as I understand I had Pulmonary Edema with Congestive Heart Failure.  I am feeling good now.  I was in the hospital for 2 days.  Following were the observations:

1. Mild global hypokinesis, ejection fraction about 40%.
2. Aortic valve sclerosis without any aortic stenosis or insufficiency
3. Mild mitral and mild tricuspid regurgitation noted.
4. Mild diastolic dysfuncton noted.

I am diabitic for the last 10 years.  I am taking medication now regularly. Fasting - 140. After Lunch - 350 (after 2 hours). Kidneys creatin level 2.1. Blood Pressure higher 150 lower 90. I am on various medication including Plavix.  I also take 20 ml (70/30) insulin. The cardilogist is suspecting blockage and is recommending angiogram, but has doubts because of the kidney condition.

I need to go back to India so that I can take the necessary treatment.  Two questions.

1. What is the chances of survival like this on medication, if I control my diet and diabetees, BP.

2. What are the chance of this coming back in next two weeks (as I am planning to fly back. It is 14 hour flight to India).

Your early reply will be highly appreciated. Thanks and best regards.

Hello.  With proper treatment, your survival outlook could be excellent.  It's possible that you may even improve.  If a blockage is causing the symptoms, treatment of the blockage will definitely be a plus for you.

As for the second question, I'm not sure what you're asking.

Best wishes to you.  I hope everything goes well and your heart and health improve.
