The pulse rate for a woman over sixty would depend on her level of fitness along with any medical issues she might have. I am in the mid-forties and very unfit. My pulse rate (resting) is an average of 110 bpm. See your doctor and ask what yours is, and how you can improve it (if you need too). Best wishes xxx
Q:I apologise but I'm very confused. Are you asking about pulse or blood pressure? because we seem to have changed topics and I have no idea what a heart rate of 120/80 is?
....Sorry I didn't mean to confuse anyone. If you review the meaning of PULSE rate and not incorrectly state the meaning of PULSE rate to be heart rate 120/80. Normal blood pressure is 120/80, but that is not PULSE rate.
It is correct the beginning sentence s/b PULSE rate not heart rate. Thanks for bring my attention to the error.
I've seen a chart that puts the resting heart rate for women in above average condition (referring to exercise) at ages between 56-65 years old at 69-73 BPM and in below average condition at 74-77 BPM.
"What's the normal pulse for a 60 year old female that has atrial fibrilation and a Mitral Valve Prolapse?"

With or without medication the heart rate should be 120/80, but the expectation for an older individual the systole may be higher than normal. The underlying cause for a higher than normal systole (pumping phase) is usually due to some hardening of the arteries and the rigidity increases the resistence the heart pumps against.
The difference between the systolic and diastolic pressure is known as the pulse pressure and normal is 40. "If the usual resting pulse pressure is consistently greater than 40 mmHg, such as 60 or 80 mmHg, the most likely basis is stiffness of the major arteries, aortic regurgitation (a leak in the aortic valve), arteriovenous malformation".
I have moderate to severe mitral valve regurgitation and my BP is normal with medication, but valve and or atrial fib issues can cause high blood pressure.
Hope this helps, and if you have and further questions or comments you are welcome to respond. Take care,
Ken
