Question about EKG

by Sweedygirl, Dec 12, 2007 10:35AM
I am wondering if an abnormal EKG could be the result of EKG tech error, such as misplaced leads?  Mine came up as Incomplete Right Bundle Branch Block, and I have no significant heart history.
Thanks for any and all responses.

Right bundle branch block is a benign condition. You could request another EKG to see if it does come back differently. I'm no doctor but I'm an RN with a cardiac certificate, which of course still makes me no expert. Anyways if you do have RBBB it is nothing to worry about.

These computerized EKG machines are for the birds.  They sometimes spit out stuff people do not have.  My husband and I both had EKG's, mine was done at the ER, my husband's was done at a Cardiologist's office, BOTH EKG's said that my husband and I had a previous heart attack which we never had.  We had to go through all kinds of tests to prove that this was false even though several EKG's after that showed NO previous heart attack, but that was not good enough, the first one showed a "previous heart attack", and here came all the tests.

This is what the Cardiologist said I saw and I quote "I am sick and tired of these computerzied EKG machines spitting out false heart attacks".  I told him they should go back to the old EKG's and I got no answer.

We have friends who had abnormal EKG's, it showed other stuff not a previous heart attack, but stuff which required all kind of tests, and none of our friends have any heart disease, all the tests proved that.

The EKG machine is not the problem The problem is the doctor you had the test by was lazy or not educated in reading EKG's and did not read the EKG himself. I am a Paramedic and have seen many doctors mis diagnose off what the EKG tells them instead of reading it themselves. As far as the right bundle branch block it is not a big deal. You could have another one done if you want to rule out misplaced leads as the problem.
