Hello, I'm a 21 year old male, who has written on this wall quite a lot in the past couple days. I was wondering if anyone could help me. I had a doctors appointment today and the doctor said he heard some irregular beats, but he said it was nothing serious. I've had several heart tests done over the past 3 months including: echo, ekgAtrioventricular block, ekg tracing Ecg Exercise stress test, holterHolter monitor (24h) for 24 hours, 5 physical exams, and a chest x-ray. The only thing that came up was palpitationsHeart palpitations on the monitor, everything else was normalNormal saline flush. However, he said he heard irregular beats, so what could this be? I have recently been suffering from anxiety, panicPanic disorder Panic disorder with agoraphobia, and nervousness. Could these cause irregular beats? Also, he called for an echo that goes down your throatCancer - throat or larynx Throat swab culture and is like a camera of the heart just for precautionary measures. (not sure what its called). I've had blood tests done and oxygen tests too and everythin is normal. The only thing is I had mono and dehydration around the same time. I was wondering why I feel like something is wrong with my heart, and what are these irregular beats he heard but said wasn't serious? Please help and respond!! Thank you so much
Sounds like u have had a full workup. Whatever the beats were they are benign in a normal cardiac workup! Yes definitely stress and anxiety can cause a ton of these extra or irregular beats. Excercise .... And do what you can to reduce anxiety and panic etc ....
From what I understand, many people, and I mean many, have an irregular heart rhythm from time to time, and it is generally not something to worry about; it is certainly worth checking by a cardiologist, as you have done. Yes, stress can induce an irregular heart beat as well as dehydration. Keep yourself well-hydrated and try to keep your mind off your heart, as best as you can, easier said than done, I know it well. We all go through this terrible anxiety, because it is worrisome when we don't know what is happening. It is also difficult because electro-physiology is a fairly recent specialty among cardiologists, and the most honest ones, and often the most competent ones will tell you that they actually don't know why your heart is beating that way. I hope you feel better. Keep writing to the forum and tell us how you are in a couple of days.
