Quick Blood Pressure Question

by 100165, Nov 05, 2009 11:30PM
I was diagnosed with high blood pressure when I was 22 and put on 4 mh of coversyl daily. I've also had and echo done and stress test etc, and everything came back normal except I have borderline LVH 1.2cm.
After I was put on the coversyl my blood pressure was usually around 100/60-110/60 with a resting pulse of about 60-70.
I'm 24 now and the last 2 months my blood pressure has shot up to about 120/75ish and my resting heart rate is about 75-80, and im doing everything i've always done like cardio and diet etc. The only thing I am going different is weight training, and for a while I was getting maybe 4 hours of sleep a night (this lasted for a month maybe more)

I know my bp and heart rate is still considered normal, but it's a just a little strange for it to suddenly increase like this so i'm wondering if it could be caused by an increase in lvh? weightlifting?

I have a cardiologist appointment coming up soon so i'll be asking them these questions as well, just wanted to get some input before that.

I should note that I'm not doing very heavy weight lifting at the moment since I'm just getting back into it.

I should also add that previously my bp after exercise would be about 90/58

but now its 104/75 so my diastolic is the bigger concern as to why it wont drop back to normal

could 1 or 2 months of 4 hours of sleep a night have done this?

Lack of sleep can significantly affect your body in many ways and higher blood pressure is certainly one of them. Have you been under considerable stress lately?
It's important to really think about this, because many people believe they are not as they don't recognise the symptoms.

well I do have a history of being overly stressed very easily.
I'm hoping it's cause by the lack of sleep. It was actually about 2 months straight where i would maybe get 4 hours of sleep, and i'd always wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to sleep again. Almost like my mind wouldn't turn off. I had my thyroid tested and other blood work to rule out things that can be causing it. So I guess it could only be stress, but i'm having the hardest time getting back into normal sleeping routine. Even now most night I get maybe 6 hours.
