RANEXA AND GRAPEFRUIT

Vzo
I HAD A QUAD BYPASS 18 YEARS AGO. THREE YEARS AGO ITS BENEFITS QUIT AND I HAD A STENT PUT IN THAT DID NOT WORK. I WAS NOT A CANDIDATE FOR HEART SURGERY AND WAS PUT ON
MEDICATIONS: METOPROLOL, PLAVIX, COZAAR, ISOSOR MONO-SULFATE,VYTORIN, AND
OF LATE, RANEXA. THIS LAST ONE, RANEXA, WORKS VERY WELL WITH ME IN
STOPPING THE ANGINA I WAS GETTING WHICH WAS BECOMING ALMOST CHRONIC.
IT ALLOWS ME TO EXERCISE AND FUNCTION ALMOST AS WELL  AS BEFORE.
HOWEVER, I REALLY LIKE TO EAT A !/2 GRAPERUIT IN THE MORNING AND
THE MANUFACTURES SAYS  YOU SHOULD NOT TAKE GRAPEFRUIT PRODUCTS
WITH RANEXA. i WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY. IS IT DANGEROUS IN THAT LIVER,
KIDNEY OR OTHER ORGAN WOULD BE DAMAGED. IS IT AN ACCELERATOR OR
DECCELERATOR, OR INHIBITOR OF RANEXA. DOES IT AGGRAVATE SIDE EFFECTS.
WHERE IS THE QUANTITATIVE BALANCE? IS A GALLON OF GRAPEFRUIT JUICE
BAD? OR IS A 1/2 OF A GRAPEFRUIT OF NO CONSEQUENCE. I HAVE BEEN
ON RANEXA AND HAVE CONTINUED THE GRAPEFRUIT AND I DO NOT FEEL
ANY NOTICEABLE SIDE EFFECTS OTHER THAN SLIGH LIGHT-HEADED-NESS
AT TIMES. IS TAKING 1/2 A GRAPEFRUIT GOING TO RESULT IN A LONG TERM
PROBLEM. WOULD APPRECIATE COMMENTS. THX.

I just started taking Ranexa yesterday.  I see that you say it is the most expensive drug you have taken.  My question is how much does it cost?

The grapefruit caution is on there because it can lower your blood pressure to a dangerous level.  I hope that you have a blood pressure cuff and measure your BP daily.  If you see any drop as a result of eating your 1/2 grapefruit, stop.

I also take Ranexa.  I have had very little angina since getting a pacemaker and taking Ranexa, both happened at the same time, as well as a Lasix prescription.

I love grapefruit, but have no interest in spitting on Superman's cape, so to speak.  No grapefruit for me.  I have no idea why grapefruit isn't recommended with Ranexa, but I'm not interested in tempting fate.  I will mention, I have no light-headed problems.

I'm thinking Ranexa is a great product, but it is the most expensive drug I've ever taken!
Best wishes.
