Racing Pulse

by tiff78g, Jan 20, 2005 12:00AM
Sometimes I get a feeling that I may pass out and my heart will be racing around 140. When I have had my blood pressure taken during this the bottom number has been high around 105.  Is this something that is normal? It feels very scary.

tiff,

Its really impossible to tell you whats going on without more data.  Your symptoms are somewhat nonspecific, but concerning enough that they warrant further work up.  I suggest if you have another episode you seek out medical attention and schedule an appointment with your physician to further evaluate the surce of your symtoms.good luck

Hello.  I also have a racing heart when I am at the doctor's office (140!) and a very high bp there as well, in fact the nurse got scared.  But as soon as I left (left before seeing the doctor because I got too nervous) HR went down to around 64 (average for me) and BP down to 118-65 (average for me).

Also since about a year, I've been feeling a strong heartbeat.  I am a 22 year old male.  I run every other day (and do not feel it while I run).  I can feel the strong beating when my heart beats slow and I am relaxed.  The more I worry about it, the harder I feel it beat.  Sometimes I don't because I don't think about it, but its almost always there... always.  I have no other symptoms and am very healthy.  I am a hypochondriac... but I can definately feel this heart beat and although I got used to it, it worries me constatnly.  Doctor listened to my heart and all sounded normal.  Good rhythm, no weird sounds.  Blood tests came back normal.  But I never went to a cardio.  I am too scared to go and when I only start thinking about going, I can feel my heart pound.  Often when it pounds, I also feel like an adrenaline feeling, like before a roller coaster.  I think about it before I go to sleep.  When I wake up, I can't feel it, then as soon as I think about it, I feel it beating.  Please someone help, because I am going crazy from this pouding.  My family is saying its all in my head, since I am a bad worrier.  But I worry  that it may be heart disease or something dangerous.
