Radiologists different interpretation of Thoracic MRI results

by BridieB, Jul 25, 2009 12:47AM
I recently had a Thoracic MRI with and without contrast to monitor my dilated aorta.  Two different radiologists from two different hospitals interpreted the same test results and came out with different measurements of the ascending thoracic aorta, the aortic arch and the proximal desending thoracic aorta.  Do radiologists use different tools to take measurements.  Is a variance in measurements and interpretations common.  I don't know which one to believe.  Can you give me some advice?  Thanks.

Get a third opinion!  I learned the hard way to always do this.  There are good and bad doctors, see what a third one has to say.  I know it's a hassle for you but unfortunately it has come down to us having to re-chesk a lot of what one does.
