My cardiologist here in NC and my old one in OH said that Plavix was approved with Prontonix. Thanks for the warning. It might be old information. I was denied Ranexa because of an old warning about the interaction with my Diltizem. Thanks for your help.
I have talked to the pharmacist about it and since the GERD did not reoccur before I started the Ranexa and came off of the Imdur he thought the Ranexa was the cause. I want to stay on the Renexa becuase it helps the agania better than the Imdur. I am talking to Gastroenterologist about surgery for GERD so I can stay on it. Thanks for your help.
I am on plavix also and was taking nexium for gerd. My cardiologist told me to go off the nexium because the FDA has found that the nexium or any of the PPI's inhibits the plavix from working properly. I am now on pepcid instead of nexium. I am curious to find out if your cardio's had mentioned this to you. Protonix is in the same group of PPI's as nexium. Google plavix and ppi's or go on the FDA website. You will read a lot about the two meds.
Just for your info.
I have taken Ranexa for about a year, and along with some of the medications you take. These include Lipitor, Coreg, Lasix, Plavix, 81 mg aspirin, Protonix. I still take Imdur as well. I have had no increase in GERD or heartburn. Given the large cocktail of drugs, have you given thought to requesting your pharmacy to key out the possible drug interactions?
I found Ranexa really helps control my angina. As I understand it, Helps stunned, or oxygen-starved areas of the heart by working with beta blockers.
