Rapid Beat and Feeling Faint

Rapid Beat and Feeling Faint

Posted By Ted Favino on December 15, 1998 at 16:51:18:

Hi,
I am a 37 year old male.  I way about 210 lbs, lost 30 lbs by choice.  Over the past couple of years I have had heart palpitations(flutters) resulting in my heart going into SVT twice and ultimately resulting in an RF ablation procedure which cured the SVT.  My problem is that I still have the heart flutters and when I get them I instantly feel the blood leaving my head and feel a little wind leaving my lungs.  I feel like I am going to pass out but never have (yet). They only last 1-3 seconds. I might go 2-3 weeks with a flutter once every 2-3 days, then I may go another week with a flutter 4 times in 1 1/2 days.  I have take atenol and verapamil but this did not help.  I am currently taking toprol-XL 50  1 per day.  The toprol seemed to work and I thought I was getting better, but the flutters are back.  I worn an event monitor for a couple of weeks but the Electrophsyiologist did not see any thing for concern, but I did not have a real good flutter when I was whering the event monitor even though I must of transmitted 30 small mis-beat feelings.  I am thinking that I should get the event monitor again and I am just looking for a mechanical understanding of the instant fainting feeling I get.  These flutters can happen during sleep, at rest, or while exercising.
Any Ideas or help?
