I am a 55 yr,female, post quad bypass with complications of ARDS..4 wks on vent, 6 years ago. I also have chf, copd, Diabetis, post fem-pop bypass times 3. I use o2@3L during night. My activities are limited, but can maintain my apartment, drive, shop at my pace. Recently after having severe back pain I had a heart cath which showed 70% block age in one artery. The physician is hesistant about a stint as a long stint would have to be used. The pain has eased up. My question is how severe is 70%
blockage? I am leaning towards having nothing since pain has eased up and stint sounds more life threatening. Thanks for any input.

70% is a moderate lesion. It may be OK to wait. Discuss it with your doctor and make sure there are not other reasons besides pain to put in the stent.

thanks for your comment, re 70% blockage. I will be seeing my cardiologist 7/19/99. I wanted to be prepared on questions to ask especially the blockage.I do have a excellent cardiologist that would take time to answer questions but my mind goes blank when discussing things. I plan to write out questions this time.

Good idea.  Be sure to let him know you are not having any symptoms because this will be key in making a decision.
