i had back surgery 3 years ago, in the hospital i had a heart condition, thought to have been brought on by asnethesia, atrial fibulation.
i had no test performed since then,  they said that the heart graph showed that my specific atrial fib did not need addressing.
Q:  should i follow up on this??
i work out bout 2 x's a week, bike 200 miles a month, swim, surf and body surf quite frequently.........
should i chec this out?? or should i not be concerned??
advise asap
aloha

Dear Curtis:
If the afib occurred three years ago during anesthesia for surgery and you have had no recurrence, it sounds like it is nothing to worry about.  However, I would still suggest annual check-ups by your family doctor just to make sure everything is OK with your general health.
Information provided here is of a general nature.  Specific diagnoses and treatments can only be made by your doctor.  If you would like to be seen at the Cleveland Clinic, please call 1-800-CCF-CARE for an appointment with a cardiologist at Desk F15.
