Dear Dan,
Your risk factors for coronary artery disease are real and number 2:
1. family history
2. high cholesterol (your LDL or bad cholesterol is high and your HDL or good cholesterol is low.)
Your best bet is to seek care at a preventive cardiology clinic, the Cleveland Clinic has one as do most medical centers, the best place to start out would be with a cardiologist who might suggest lowering cholesterol with dietary changes first, but there are very good medicines for this risk factor that should be highly considered in your case (given your father's health.)
I hope this information is useful. Information provided in the heart forum is for
general purposes only.  Only your physician can provided specific diagnoses and therapies.
Feel free to write back with further questions. Good luck!
If you would like to make an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic Heart Center, please
call 1-800-CCF-CARE or inquire online by using the Heart Center website at
www.ccf.org/heartcenter. The Heart Center website contains a directory of the
cardiology staff that can be used to select the physician best suited to address your
cardiac problem.
