Hello my name is Chris, I recently went to the doctor and he noticed from
pass records that i have a heart
murmurHeart murmurs and other sounds. I asked him what it was and he
said it was basically my heart beating to fast and sometimes too slow.
The doctor completed a cardiogram and told me that i have
myocarditisMyocarditis. He
said one of the
valvesHeart valves
Heart valves - anterior view
Heart valves - superior view in my heart was not closing tight enough, and oxygen
was escaping. He gave me
penicillinPenicillin
Penicillin g potassium
Penicillin g sodium
Penicillin v potassium to kill the germs in my
throatCancer - throat or larynx
Throat swab culture, because
my throat is still infected. It was never really the same after i had
broncitis last year. The doctor said the heart murmur is the result of maybe
a infection from a cold from maybe a year ago.
I'm 18 years old,I'm kind of scared because i think i'm still young and
i dont wanna really have surgery or a heart transplant at this age.
Can someone tell me if there is a cure for this?

Dear Chris,
All that I can say from what you have stated is that I am not sure you have
myocarditis, endocariditis, and or a leaky heart valve. Without some idea of
what your diagnosis is I really can not be specific or even educate you as to
the prognosis and treatment options for your condition. You should seek some kind
of counseling with your doctor and or his/her nurse to better understand what disease
process they think it is that you have and what the future plans are for your care and treatment.
I hope this information is useful. Information provided in the heart forum is for
general purposes only. Only your physician can provided specific diagnoses and therapies.
Feel free to write back with further questions. Good luck!
