This is in addition to a message just posted regarding my mother, Sharon.
I wrote and said that her body was having all kinds of problems.
Extremely dry skin in February '98, sores that wouldn't heal in July,
pain after eating in July and pain that kept her awake at night and would
not be as bad if she slept sitting up, October, pain after eating so
bad that she preferred not to eat. Starting in July she was more and
more out of

Breath holding spell
Breath odor, by December she couldn't even walk from the

Bacterial gastroenteritis

Breath odor. She told me that on the phone
in Hot Springs on her way to Florida. She had seen a dr that told her it
was her thyroid not a heart problem. He decided this without running any
heart or thyroid tests.
Hopefully you can put the 2 messages together, as I stated before, I really
need answers!

Dear Debbie,
Actually I am glad for this addendum question as I just realized that I forgot to
say a few things:
1)The sores on your mothers' skin could very well be related to her heart condition, especially
if she has untreated heart failure, but it would be wrong to just assume this, so my suggestion
is that she see a dermatologist-specifically one who trained or currrently works at a
majorMajor tears
Major-gesic university
center. Your mother's story sounds not only unusual and
atypicalAtypical pneumonia, but also very complicated and there
is NO BETTER physician for such a patient than one at a major university center (usually have major medical center with
medical school.) Someone in the family needs direct contact with the physician who evaluates your mom (by phone or by being
there for the appointment with her) so as to ask what test results are and what the reasoning is behind the medical treatment.
2)If your mother does have congestive heart failure there are two or three drugs that she should be on, besides the need for a
cardiac catheterization (keep in mind that blockages in the heart vessels are not the only causes of heart failure such as
thyroid problems, long standing diabetes or hypertension, and even some viral infections.)
Congestive heart failure can be very difficult to live with as it causes shortness of breath and fatigue, however treated properly,
it often improves the lifestyle and the longevity of the patient.

treatment can only be made by your physician(s).
