I was diagnosed with MVP years ago. Recently I have been experiencing spells of dizziness. They usually occur when I arise from a laying position or from a crouching position. I have always been very careful when I get up from a laying position because I do get dizzy. However, lately, no matter how slowly I arise, I get dizzy, see light
spotsBirthmarks - pigmented
Liver spots
Measles, koplik spots - close-up
Mongolian blue spots and feel like I am going to pass out. I was at an event this weekend, we were constructing cardboard boats for a race, and I became extremely dizzy again. All I was doing was bending over. Why am I experiencing these spells? Is it attributed to the MVP?
Dear SAH, thank you for your question. I doubt the MVP is causing your symptoms. You may have a disorder of blood pressure regulation based on your body's position. I suggest that you see your physician and have your blood pressure checked lying down and then immediately after standing (so-called orthostatic blood pressure check). If your BP does fall significantly with standing up, then you may need to have further tests done.
