Hi,
I have two questions (or more) that may not have any realation to each other.  Just wondering.  (1) I recieved my records the other day and had some questions.  I was diagnosed with MVP at 12, they did all kinds of tests.  I have some questions about the results.
There are a series of ECG read outs and I just wondered what they meant.  I started out with a vent rate of 76 and in one point of the stress test it went all the way up to 206, is that normal for a 12 year old?  The last read out, in a series of of 8, states:
"there was sinus tachycardia with short PR interval"
"Cannot rule out atrial flutter"
"Moderate ST depression [0.05+ MV ST depression]"
"Abnormal ECG"
The last read out also states:
Vent Rate: 143
PR: 100
QRS: 72
QT/QTC: 284/367
P-QRS-T: 64, 78, 50
I was just wondering what all of this meant and if it was normal for someone with MVP.  Is it also normal for someone with MVP to experience SVT while excersising (this also occured during the test)
(2)  I have noticed for a couple of years now that I experience dizziness after excersising.  Whether it be swimming (I am a fish of sorts), stair stepping or aerobic walking.  After I get out of the pool everyone always comments on how red my face is and I feel quite dizzy.  I see sparkles in front of me until I sit down and rest for a good 15 minutes.  Even during a cool down or just sitting in the pool I have to put my head down and close my eyes because of the dizziness.  Is this because of the MVP or is it just normal for everyone?  I am also extrememly tired after excersising anymore, not invigorated .  I know that I have not kept on top of excersising, so could it be to deconditioning?  Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions, it means alot.

Dear Sah,
Thank you for your questions.  In general much of the findings on your exercise test are consistent with MVP including the ST changes.  In general, many people may develope SVT with exercise.  However, if you are having symptoms and exercise intolerance, I would suggest that you have your mitral valve reassessed by means of an echocardiogram to see if your MVP has progressed.
I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to write back.
