Recent test discovered hyperthyroidism TSH level 12.99.  Prescribed synthroid (used for hyprothyroidism).  Synthroid should be used cautiously w/patients w/coronary artery disease & angina.  I have a functional heart murmur..concerned w/medication used that is for hypo & not hyper.  Could medication cause any damage to heart?

Dear Lisa,
Agents to treat hyper or hypothyroidism will nopt harm your heart if used correctly as prescribed and monitored via blood tests.   In fact, once hyper or hypothyroidism is corrected, one often sees and improvement in heart function.
I hope this has been useful. Feel free to write back with further questions. Good luck.
