I have been told my tricuspid and mitral valves are leaking.  Mitral 1+ --2+.  Tricuspid  2-3+.  Having a stress echo to confirm.  Can these leakages be treated with medications or much I undergo surgery to replace or repair.    Also, have cardiomyopathy, due to a leaky aorta valve and was replaced 4 yrs. ago.  Was told if we can keep my valves under control, we can keep the CM under control.        thank you

Dear Carol
Neither your mitral or tricuspid valves currently need surgical repair, unless the stress echo provides different info. Whether your valves get worse is difficult to predict. Medicines can definitely help cardiomyopathies; they do not help valves per se. You will need to have an echo performed every 6 to 12 months, or sooner for a change in symptoms.
I hope this is useful. Feel free to write back. I wish you the best of luck.
