numbnessNumbness and tingling w/ PSVT posted by Ken McCloskey on February 02, 1999 at 16:33:01:
I'm a 25 male with PSVT for several years now and treated on and off with various beta-blockers. The PSVT's were infrequent, since I was aware when I was susceptible and avoided activities which would bring it on during those times. I can live with the PSVT, but the sharp chest pains are what really troubles me. Some are sharp and sudden, sometimes radiating, others linger and can be felt between my

About a year ago I had a bad serious of days with chest pains (electric-feeling). During that episode, I had a quick bought of dizziness which was followed by left side
numbnessNumbness and tingling (legs, arms, face) that lasted for several months. In addition to the numbness I would have electric feeling stabs in the left side of my brain as well as dull headaches that only occurred on that side. I went to the neurologist and the MRI came back fine. After several months went by, the numbness receded and I entered a stretch of heart/brain health, no pains, no numbness. Now it is back and I find myself going back to the doctor again and having the same tests done.
Can anyone describe what they think might be wrong with me? Any suggestion of what tests can be helpful in diagnosing the source of these disturbing symptoms? At 25 I can make by, but I worry about when I am older how well I can live a regular life. I am quite tired of doctors who dismiss me by ascribing my symptoms to stress. I have a normal level of stress. I realize that stress can produce strong effects, but I can not believe that the variety and intensity of the pain that I am feeling (which is progressive worse since I first experienced PSVT many years back) is simply a reaction to stress.
I can not go through life with chest pains and numbness and sharp pains on the left side of my brain.
Thanks for your help,
Ken
