I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, and have been taking 10mg of Zestril for about 1 year.  The blood pressure has been kept down, but I noticed my pulse rate is also low.  It is in the upper 40's to mid 50's.  I am fairly active, and try to do a light workout twice a week.  Is the pulse rate normal?  If not is it something I should be concerned about?  I also have been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease 17 years ago.  I am currently 33.

Hi Mark,
I'm on 25 mg per day of Tenormin for SVT/Adreneline problem and I have experienced the same thing.  My cardiologist said that is fine if it is that low when you are at rest, but if you are up and around and it is that low, that may not be good.  If you are feeling dizzy, I would call him/her about the medicine.  If you are physically fit, your heart rate could be low to begin with.  Was your heart rate low before you started the medicine?  I'm sure the doctors at the CCF will have a good answer for you, but this is my two cents because I've asked.
I hope everything works out well for you.
Denise
