I AM 72 YEARS OLD. At the annual medical check up I was advised
Echocardiogram. The result:
QUOTE:
  LVED:45   LVES:   27   LA:43   AOR:34   IVS:10   PW:9
All cardiac chambers are normal in sizeexcept for mild left atrium enlargement. Normal left ventricle systolic funtion. No wall motion abnormality.
Sclorotic mitral valve and sclerotic aortic valve.
Tricuspid and Pulmornary valve are normal in structure.
No pericardial effusion.
Color doplter study done shows mild to moderate aortic regurgitation and Mitral regurgitation.
IMPRESSION: AORTIC VALVE SCLEROSIS WITH MILD TO MODERATE REGURGITATION. MITRAL VALVE SCLEROSIS WITH TRIVAL MITRAL REGURGITATION. MI LD LEFT ATRIUM ENLARGEMENT.
QUESTIONS;
1. What is the significance of the above findings from a lay man's point of view? Does it call for any change in lifestyle or precautions? I am a person with active habits and regularly excercise.
2. Is there any thing I should do to control increase in regurgitation?
3. Should I consult a Cardiologist?
4. How often the Echocardiogram should be repeated in a year?
5. Any other suggestions/ advice to prevent heart problems related to the above findings?
Thank you!
Sagar
