In the new AHA recommendations Biaxin was added as a antibiotic for prophylaxis for people allergic to penicillin. The standard dose is 500mg 1 hour before the procedure. The full recommendations can be found in
Dajani: JAMA, Volume 277(22).June 11, 1997.pp 1794-1801.
