Is it normal for a Dr. to prescribe nitro pills to someone with MVP who is experiencing chest pains?

Dear sah
It is common to prescibe nitro for chest pains that are due to coronary artery disease or if there is a suspicion of coronary artery disease (until further testing is done). Nitro would not do much for MVP related problems.
I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to write back.

That's funny, my old cardiologist prescribed nitro for my MVP related chest pains.  Needless to say, I was very leary of the medicine and did not fill it.  Just lived with the stabs.  When I asked why nitro, he pretty much said, take it you want to or don't take it.  It was kind of weird.
