I have enough knowledge to know the P-R interval is increased (6 mm). Also, the T-wave seems elevated (12 mm). No arrhythmia was noted during the EKG. My questions are as follows: (1). Do you think that this is a PVC or a Sinus Arrhythmia? (2). Is there a chance that my pectus excavatum has anything to do with this? (3). Do the increased P-R interval and elevated T-wave have a contributing factor? (4). Is there any contraindication to me doing strenuous cardiovascular activity? (5). Is there an increased likelihood of future heart problems? Thanks for your time and service.
Dear T.D.
1. Sinus arrhythmia should not cause symptoms. It sounds like PVCs.
2. Pectus excavatum can cause xray and ekg abnormalities. Furthermore, it is associated with some heart problems.
3. Unlikely that these abnormalities are related to your symptoms.
4. Since one episode occurred with exertion, I think you should be evaluated with a treadmill exercise test before undertaking any strenuous activity.
5. It depends on whether you in fact have any underlying heart disease.
I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to write back.
