Hi Dr MTR,
In respects to Atenolol, I take it (25 mg per day) to control an IST problem (beta-adrenergic hypersensitivity diagnosed after ablation).  I know quite a few people on Tenormin and a few on Lopressor.  I've asked about one being better than the other and one doctor said it is like putting your hand in a bin of beta-blockers and just picking one because they all do pretty much the same thing.
Do most people seem to tolerate Atenolol more, that is why it is prescribed a lot or is it just a matter of "preference" perse?  Atenolol does make me tired too, but I thought this would be a side effect from all the beta-blockers.  I know when I went to the hospital for one of my arrhythmias (PSVT), they were going to put me on Lopressor, but my doctor (when the called him) said to put me on Tenormin.  Should I inquire about changing perhaps?  I mean I'm not exhausted on Tenormin, but I don't have my normal perk, that's for sure.  Personally, what do you recommend/prescribe to your patients or it is strictly on a person-to-person basis?
Thanks,
Dee
