Dear doctor,
After reading another questions regarding magnesium and potassium supplements to help with PVC's, I have a question to ask you.  If indeed you had a blood test and tested low in magnesium and are taking a 200mg over the counter supplement to help (which it does) reduce the PVCs, am I still at risk for hyperplakia and the other problems you described?  My magnesium level was 1.3 which was considered low.  But, I have not had it checked since starting the supplement.  Should I?  Thank you for your response.
Hi Kelsey,
It would seem to me that 200 mg. magnesium is not a problem.  I believe the RDA is between 350 and 400mg.  I've also heard that the FDA might be raising the RDA to around 750mg.  What kind of magnesium do you take?  I've been taking a chelated form (magnesium glycinate).
I wonder how much is considered too much?  Also, since the doctor indicated that there is no easy test to determine total body magnesium, how would one know what their true level is to begin with??  If you care to keep in touch, my e-mail address is:  ***@****
