I will be undergoing an angiogram? for possible renal (fibromuscular dysplasia) stenosis.  My bp has been quite high but is has come down generally with medications.
Dear Mindy,
About your carotid arteries and their being stenosed, yes you need to relax.
There is no better way to screen for such blockages than the ultrasound itself,
and if there is an abnormality seen or clinical symptoms that highly suggest an
abnormality of the cerebral vessels, then an angiogram is done.  In contrast,
the vessels that feed the kidneys are best studied with an angiogram, in your
case because there is a high clinical suspicion that this could be a cause of
your high blood pressure.  Good call Mindy on the headaches being related to the
high blood pressure episodes, as this is a good possibility.  Of course you would
expect that once the pressure is under excellent control, that the headaches never
come back.  Good Luck with your kidney studies and your blood pressure control.
Thank you.  I have confidence in my doctors and believe that essentially they have given me the same information. although they did give me different opinions about the expected outcome of the possible angioplasty.  Your response was additional reassurance.
Mindy
