Is a resting herat rate of, oh say, 100 ok? Are there adverse effects from a high heart rate? I ask because my resting rate is between 96 and 100 most times. There are some times when my resting rate reaches 140 or so, is this bad? Exercising is a different matter, can get into the 200's or so. Is this bad?

Dear Sah,
In order to answer this question fully I would need to know your age.  In general a target heart rate for exercise is 220 minus your age.  So if you are 20, your target is approximately 200.
In general, a resting heart rate of 80 to 100 is ok for younger people.

I am 21 and my exercising causes my heart rate to go a bit over 200.  Sometimes I have experienced a resting heart rate of 140 or more.  I am not excited about anything and can just be sitting around doing nothing and my heart rate just speeds up.  I have another question.  Does heart rate increase after consuming food?
