I have been diagnosed with MVP and dysautonomia. Quite frequently I have a sudden rush of pressure in my head. I feel like I am going to pass out. When this happens my head burns on top and I get weak and shakey. Is all of this normal with this condition? My blood pressure usually shoots up for a few minutes and then slowly goes back down. I really worry about having a stroke or something. Is this possible?
Dear Martha
I am not sure what is causing your symptoms. I think that you should have a tilt table test (a cardiac electrophysiologist can set this up). An evaluation by a neurologist also seems like a good idea.
I hope you find this information useful.  Information provided in the heart forum is for general purposes only.  Only your physician can provide specific diagnoses and therapies. Please feel free to write back with additional questions.
If you would like to make an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic Heart Center, please call 1-800-CCF-CARE or inquire online by using the Heart Center website at www.ccf.org/heartcenter.   The Heart Center website contains a directory of the cardiology staff that can be used to select the physician best suited to address your cardiac problem.
Martha,

I was diagnosed with panic disorder and what you describe are some symptoms I have had during a panic attack.  Before I knew what they were I thought I was dying.  Maybe you should check it out.  I've read something about connections between MVP and panic disorder.
