I recently had a halter monitor for 24 hours due to some "panick" attacks. The report said "rare tachycardia". What is this and should I be investigating it further? (My doctor says it is normal and caused from stress.)
Dear J
Tachycardia refers to a fast heart rate. Sinus tachycardia refers to a fast heart rate caused by exercise, anxiety, pain and a host of other factors. Other types of tachycardia are abnormal. So it depends on the exact type of tachycardia and just how fast it was.
I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck.
