Want to know how long it takes from the time the test is done for the information/results to be sent to doctor whom ordered it.  I had the test done on the 8th of April and have an appointment scheduled for the 20th with a doctor for him to inform me of the results.  I think that I have some of those splinters on my finger nails on my left hand which also has what I suspect to be osler's nodes.  The osler's nodes seem to be better and not quite as sore as they were.  How long does it take for them to go away?.  Can they go away on their own or does one have to be on antibiotics?  I have low back pain which has worsened since the thallium test was done.  The stuff they put in my arm to make the blood vessels expand aggravated the nerves in my back or else the tread mill did.  To night I took one pill with codene in it to see if that helps.  I will let the doctor know when I see him on Tuesday.  With my heart disease is it possible that it could be in my back also?

Dear Sandra, thank you for your question.  I suspect your low back is related to a musculoskeletal cause and was precipitated by walking on the treadmill.  Osler's nodes are a rare finding and are usually only associated with endocarditis (infection of a heart valve).  I don't know of a reason to get a thallium stress in a patient being evaluated for endocarditis.  Thus, I'm confused by your question so I suggest that you speak to your own physician for more specific information.
I hope you find this information useful.  Information provided in the heart forum is for general purposes only.  Only your physician can provide specific diagnoses and therapies. Please feel free to write back with additional questions.  Good luck!
