I have a few questions and I don't think they all tie in together.  My first question has to deal with a heavy beating of my heart.  Very forcefull and I am very aware of it.  Come to think of it, I am aware of my heart beat at all times.  It is odd.  Why does it feel like my heart is always about to pound out of my chest?
My next question has to deal with excersise.  I am not a world class athlete by far.  I did swim competively for several years, but have now fallen out of that practice.  I have noticed that when I clilmbed the stairs at the University that I can barely make it most of the time.  I am out of breath and it takes me a good 5- 10 minutes to catch it again.  Am I out of shape or what?  Of course at this same time there is the usual thudding going on also.  Go figure.
My last question has to deal with temperature.  I have grown up in Southwest Florida without air conditioning for 21 years.  All of a sudden we now have it in our house.  I have always been way cold in air conditioning before.  I thought that since we got it in the house that I would adjust.  We have had it for 7 months and I still walk around with chattering teeth, cold hands and cold feet.  Will I ever adjust to this 78 degree weather?  I hate being cold.  The only time I ever feel warm is if the thermostate is at about 85-90 degrees.  Do I just need more time to adjust or what?   Oh and by the way, I do know that I have MVP.  Have had it since birth.  I don't think that plays a part, do you?   Well thanks in advance, and have a good day too!  :o)

Dear SAH, thank you for your question.  I suspect the forceful heart beats are normal and that you just "sense" your heart beats more than most people.  I can't say for sure what is causing you to have poor exercise tolerance, but it could be due to deconditioning.  The temperature intolerance may just be due to your own body's thermostat and what you find to be a comfortable temperature.  I can tell you that I would pass out if I had to stay in a house that was 85-90 degrees!  With MVP, there is an increased sensation of pain and palpitations that may be related to an abnormal neural connection between the brain and the heart.  However, I suggest that you speak with your own physician for more complete answers to your questions.
