My mother is scheduled for a single by-pass and valve replacement surgery in two weeks....She is deliberating over what type of valve to go with. She is a healthy 69 year old, non-smoker, non-drinker. She is leaning towards getting a mechanical valve....Does anyone have any advice or experience to help in this decision? Thank you.
I am a 50 year old male. I had my
mitralMitral regurgitation - chronic
Mitral stenosis
Mitral valve prolapse valve replaced this past October
with a mechanical valve made by carbomedics. I feel great and am not restricted
in any way. Taking a
Coumadin tablet once a day is no big deal. I am truly
thankful that my cardiologist and surgeon pushed me to have the valve replaced
when they did. In my situation, I had severe re-gurgitation and my
mitralMitral regurgitation - chronic
Mitral stenosis
Mitral valve prolapse
valve was severely deformed and thickened. Keep a positive attitude and
before long the surgery will be behind you. Good luck!!
