There is alot of discussion of
womenWomen's way and heart disease lately and the distinct
difference from men and heart disease. Are there cardiologists that
specialize in
womenWomen's way's heart disease and how do you locate them. Also how
important is it to have a doctor who specializes in this area. I have had
angioplastyAngioplasty
Coronary artery balloon angioplasty - series and have had a
stentAbdomen - swollen
Brain herniation
Chronic persistent hepatitis
Coronary artery stent
Hyperemesis gravidarum
Lyme disease - chronic persistent

Dear Bernice,
Thank you for your question. The answer will depend somewhat upon who you talk to. I think that in general a good cardiologist can take care of both
womenWomen's way and men and know the differences in how the disease behaves in different genders. There are a few cardiologist whose focus of research is women's heart disease but no one that I know of whose sole clinical practice is women.
I hope you find this information useful. Information provided in the heart forum is for general purposes only. Only your physician can provide specific diagnoses and therapies. Please feel free to write back with additional questions.
If you would like to make an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic Heart Center, please call 1-800-CCF-CARE or inquire online by using the Heart Center website at www.ccf.org/heartcenter. The Heart Center website contains a directory of the cardiology staff that can be used to select the physician best suited to address your cardiac problem.
Thank you for your answer....could you tell me the names of doctors who are
doing research on women and heart disease and where this research is being
done....what hospitals etc. Thanks
